Campra Aires, cheap, safe overnight stopovers for campervans and motorhomes in the UK

Do you know about Campra Aires? We are relatively new to this fantastic initiative, but love the concept. See bottom of the page for general Campra info.

In pursuit of a cheap stop off en-route to Cornwall, we stumbled upon College Farm Leisure Aire near Bourton on the Water in the Cotswolds. We weren’t really sure what to expect, other than a field with water and a bin. But we were really pleasantly surprised.

We shared the field with only one other motorhome, surrounded by fields full of horses, with stables being near by.

The site was situated next to the footpath between Bourton on the Water and Lower Slaughter, and very near the Monarch Way. (A 625 mile, long distance footpath – the escape route taken by King Charles II in 1651).

We packed a lot in, in just one night’s stay. On arrival, we took the short walk to Bourton on the Water, followed by a few drinks (street food available on weekends) at Jeremy Clarkson’s Hawkstone Brewery, and then staggered back to the van, which was only two minutes away.

After a lovely quiet night’s rest, we strolled over to the absolutely beautiful Lower Slaughter at 9am – beating the crowds- and sauntered back to the van to depart for Cornwall.
