A 10 day itinerary guide to an Inner Hebrides campervan road trip. Breathtaking landscapes. Part 2: Mull

Having had an amazing time on Arran and the Kintyre Peninsula, we moved on to Mull itself. Here is an ‘at a glance’ list of our itinerary. See links at the bottom for part 1 and helpful information.
- Day 4: Ferry to Mull and travel to Port Nan Gael Campsite (4 nights)
- Day 5: Day at Iona
- Day 6: Walk, wildlife and picnic at Port Nan Crullach
- Day 7: Walk, coffee shop and relax at Loch Buie
- Day 8: Drive to the northern part of the Island, Calgary Beach, Tobermory and Salen Campsite (2 nights)
- Day 9: Walk from Glengorm Castle to Glengorm Bathing Pool. The Glass Barn for lunch
- Day 10 Ferry home

The second part of our road trip was to explore Mull and Iona. We chose campsites as we needed hook-up for the van due to a temporary fault. Otherwise we would have chosen some of the amazing permitted overnight stops.
We were blown away by the sheer beauty of Mull, and the abundance of wildlife, which was everywhere.
- Day 4:
- Taking the Oban to Mull Ferry, we then made our way to Port Nan Gael Campsite. Great facilities, digital self check in, fantastic views. Very well run.
- Day 5:
- Making the most of the weather, we took a trip to Iona. From Fionnphort ferry, we hiked around the island, enjoying a picnic on St Columba’s Bay. On returning we visited the stunning abbey, had coffee at the cute Rookery CafĆ© (Tucked away but gorgeous gardens to sit in on a nice day), and enjoyed the beautiful white beaches and turquoise sea.
- Day 6:
- Fantastic wildlife watching day at Port nan Crulloch. Stunning hike to the beach, with otters, White Tailed Eagles, Golden Eagles, and wild goats on the beach. Tricky drive down this road; Due to overhangs, a large motorhome might struggle

- Day 7:
- Great day at Loch Buie. Fantastic walk, with great views of Ben More, castles and Highland Cattle on the beach. Amazing views and coffee shop at the Old Post Office, which can be busy. There is a designated camp spot here for cash donation.
- Day 8:
- Moved on to the north part of the island, on an epic but scary road! The views over to Tiree are absolutely fantastic.
- Visited Calgary Beach, which can be busy, but stunning. There is a designated overnight camp spot here for a cash donation.
- Stayed at Salen Campsite. Lovely site; well run, with both mountain and sea views. Great access to north and central parts of the island from here, as well as both ferry ports. Don’t miss the wonderful Coffee Pot Bakery and fantastic honesty cake box on Salen High Street. Accommodates Gluten free, which was a lovely surprise.
- Day 9:
- Lovely hike from Glengorm Castle to the Glengorm Bathing Pool. If you time it right, the coffee shop is open on certain days. Natural sea bathing pool, with otters, allegedly (Not the day we went!)
- Absolutely gorgeous food at the Glass Barn (Isle of Mull Cheese and Spirit). Good parking, beautiful glass house venue, and visitors centre.
- Day 10. Ferry and drive home
