Part 3. Campervan Campsites, Overnight Stops, Books and Links

This is part three of our Campervan Road Trip itinerary in The Outer Hebrides. See parts one and two for detailed information.

To make things easy, I have added 2 tables below, which is our choice of campsites and overnight stays (although there are so many great ones to choose from). As there are many options, you will need to do your research to see what is right for you. YouTube is a great resource, and I also recommend the books listed below. You will need to book campsites early, and in high season, I wouldn’t suggest just turning up, as you may be disappointed.

There are many places to service your campervan on a pay as you go basis, often in Community Centres. See links below in both tables for more information. Overnight camping in non-designated areas is discouraged to preserve the landscape and particularly the Machair. As well as campsites, there are community-run spaces to stay, and suggested overnight stop areas on apps such as Park4Night and Search For Sites. Also see links in table below for the Visit Outer Hebrides web site for more info.

I hope you find this helpful.

Most of all, leave no trace, and honour the locals and your fellow explorers by leaving the area clean and tidy.
